Forged Optimism is a practical performance framework built around three pillars: perspective, preparation, and responsibility. It gives you a way to work through pressure, replacing an automatic reaction with a deliberate response.
What can this teach me?
Look beyond your first interpretation of a difficult situation. Recognize the challenge, examine what you can learn, and choose a perspective that helps you move forward.
What am I doing daily to prepare?
Build the habits and discipline you can rely on when circumstances become demanding. Small, consistent actions create a stronger foundation for difficult moments.
What is the next right move?
Separate what you can influence from what you cannot. Take ownership of your choices and act on the next useful step within your control.
Together, these pillars help you assess the situation, draw on your preparation, and decide how to respond.
Perform Under Pressure. Stay Steady. Win the Small Battles.
Forged Optimism is for people who want to become more intentional in how they lead, work, and live.
Leaders
People responsible for others who want to lead by example, stay grounded, and build trust through their everyday actions.
Teams
Groups that want to develop shared habits, support one another, and take greater ownership of how they work together.
Individuals
People seeking greater discipline, confidence, and direction—whether they are pursuing a goal, stepping into a new role, or growing through an unfamiliar stage of life.
You don’t need a leadership title to use Forged Optimism. You need a willingness to learn, prepare, and take responsibility for your next move.
Bring Forged Optimism to Your Organization →
Pressure changes the way people perform. Preparation changes how they respond.
Forged Optimism helps people and teams strengthen their perspective, build daily preparation, and take personal responsibility—so they can think clearly, lead effectively, and respond with purpose when difficult moments arrive.
The framework applies to situations people face every day:
Being passed over for a promotion
Navigating conflict with a supervisor
Leading through organizational change
Addressing a team member’s underperformance
Recovering from a major professional setback
Making a difficult decision with no perfect answer
These moments demand clear thinking, steady communication, and a practical next step. Through three formats, Spencer Kirtley helps organizations put Forged Optimism to work.

Real-World Leadership. Practical Tools. A Message Built for Pressure.
I’m Spencer Kirtley—President of Owens Products, Performance & Leadership Coach, husband, father, and founder of Forged Optimism.
My approach has been shaped by the everyday realities of leading in manufacturing: developing people, balancing competing priorities, solving problems, and making decisions that affect others.
That experience has taught me that leadership is tested in ordinary moments as much as major ones—in how you handle frustration, follow through on commitments, address problems, and show up for the people counting on you.
Throughout my career, one question kept returning:
Why do some people remain steady under pressure while others become overwhelmed by it?
Forged Optimism grew from that question and my commitment to turn what I was learning into something useful for others.
I bring that same commitment to my work as a coach and speaker: an honest understanding of responsibility, a willingness to keep learning, and a belief that we can become better equipped for the moments that test us.

Give your audience something they can put to work.
I connect firsthand leadership experience with relatable stories and practical application. My message speaks to the gap between knowing what you should do and following through when emotions run high, time is limited, and others are counting on you.
When you book me, you can expect:
A grounded perspective
Lessons shaped by the responsibility of leading a manufacturing business, where choices affect people, operations, and results.
A message connected to your audience
Examples and discussion that reflect the challenges your people face and the purpose of your event or session.
Clear takeaways
Useful questions and concrete actions participants can carry into their next conversation, decision, or demanding day.
An engaging, direct delivery
Honest conversation, relatable humor, and a clear connection between the message and everyday behavior.
My aim is for people to leave recognizing where they can make a difference—and ready to act on it.
